    Default Propeller overhaul

Any suggestions about where to get a McCauley propellor overhauled in the Northwest Ohio area? NE Indiana? Southern Michigan?

I would like to get it done locally if possible.

    Thanks,

    Rick

The Serial number on the prop is only 3 digits.
I think that the manufacture date should be sometime in 1946.
It will be interesting to see how it will checks out.

    Thanks for the help,

    Rick

Well I dropped off the prop Tuesday morning and got a message that afternoon stating that I am now the proud owner of a wall hanger.
So now I am looking for a servicable prop for my Cessna 140. It will go on a C-85 engine.
If anyone has knowledge of the following propeller models please let me know.
    McCauley 1A90-CF, 1A90-CH, or 1B90-CM.
    Sensenich M76AK-2 or M74CK-2.

    Thanks,

    Rick

I found out the propeller was not airworthy because it was too short. 1/16 of an inch.

The propellor is not legal for certified aircraft but is there any reason why it cannot be used on an Expermental aircraft?

That's a real bummer about the short prop. Did the prop logs indicate it had been trimmed at some point?
You might ask your prop shop about if it's OK for experimental, or contact your local EAA chapter and describe what you have and if it's salable (or donate to a not-for-profit aviation group and get a tax write off?)

you can hang whatever you want on an experimental. 1/16th? I would check it with a few tapes till I found one that gave me the right answer lol

Get the prop back, wait a year, send it to a different prop shop, get it back certified and go fly. Prop shops are the biggest crooked business this side of the Mississippi...
