Default Pa-18 fuel tank verse pa-22 fuel tank

Other than the bungs for the pa-18s fuel sight gauges, is there any other differences?

No unless you have a Clipper or early Pacer fuel tank which did not have the filler neck centered in the tank.

The fuel tank drawing is 10849. Looks like there are some 17 variations on it. I'm guessing most are just left and right, with the Clipper tank making the one odd ball with the filler neck offset and the bung for the fuel gage. Early Pacers also had bungs for the boiler tube fuel gage. All the PA-18 tanks have the nipples for the sight gage in the wing root, and later pacers and tripacer tanks have the hole for the electric fuel quantity sender. All the tanks are made up from the same to formed halves. Left and right have the tube opposite for the drag brace, and the quick drain bung on the inside rear corner. To really understand the differences, study the drawing.

Has anybody put the wing root fuel sight gages in a Pa-22? If so, do you have any pictures? I'm planning to install them on my Experimental Colt and looking for some tips and techniques. Thanks

Easy to do if you put a skylight in, not really possible with a headliner forward of the rear carry through.

Yup, skylight is going in as well, thanks for the confirmation, I’ve gone ahead and ordered a set through Jay at Javron.

Copy the PA18 tanks and make sure there are no obstructions.
