Re: 57A going back together
You have too many projects to distract you from your airplane. I really hope you get to fly it still this year. We have been waiting for this moment so long.

Re: 57A going back together
House renovations now all done, daughter & grandson moved into new spaces; RV cleaned out, winterized & put in storage; wife & I are now back in our room. Still have to finish fall leaf pick-up and get my firewood inside.
Throttle cable installation now done, all cowls put back on as of yesterday, so now the wait begins again for A&P and CFI to both have some time available-- at the same time.
It's been a bit frustrating to see some of the best flying weather we've had all year in the Northeast go by...and seeing others take their planes up. Parlin Field has been rather busy lately!
Starting to have dreams about flying again (is that a good sign or a bad sign?)....

Follow your dreams. It’s a good thing. I’m on my way to fly to a pancake breakfast.

Re: 57A going back together
Well, it's pretty close to 2023 (Gilbert), but... IT FLIES!!
My A&P & CFI took it up today, flew around for about 1/2 hr. Not surprisingly, we now have a squawk list, but --surprisingly-- it's quite long! Some electrical gremlins, running a bit rough at full power, left seat stuck.... and quite a few other things.
But at least the thing flies! Took off, with 15-1/2 gallons in each tank and two 180+ pounders inside, in only 800 feet. Climbs well, rigging seems to be dead on. And oh, yeah... the radio(s) "should probably be replaced"....
I think I was as nervous as my A&P and CFI were, but they said it flew quite well and climbed with authority -- but with the radios seemingly not working (they always did before), and some "skipping" in the electrical supply (maybe?), they came back down after several circuits sound 2B3. Back to the drawing board!

Re: 57A going back together
Congratulations, it finally happened. Now back to work to get the squawk list taking care off and soon you will be flying it. Any pictures off the takeoff and/or landing?

Excellent news!
I’m glad for you.
Get the big squalks fixed
Then grab a handheld and your CFI!

Re: 57A going back together
That is good news. It is a new engine, it usually takes 40-60 minutes to seat the rings, should run smoother after that.
