    Default 15 16 17 wing same?

Swa this on barnstorms and never looked at 15 or 17s close, is the wing the same as the 16?
Another starge thing I never saw on a Piper is the jackscrewless trim, is this the only Piper single with no jackscrew?

Same wing smaller struts but with a trim tab on the left elevator trailing edge. Some of the wing internals are little different as the crossover cable turnbuckle is in cabin. The cockpit controls are totally different. Fuselage is about 13” shorter. Clipper serial number 1 was a stretched fuselage PA17. I seem to remember Clyde told it didn’t have jack-screw either

I thought it looked the same. Was there a problem with the control stick of the 15/17 that they tried to improve on with the Clipper controls?

    No problem with 15/17 controls.
The 15 had a single stick and left side only brakes. In the 17 they just duplicated left side stick on the right in keeping with Pipers keep it simple and don’t change what works. Also the 15/17 carry thru structure is much different than the 16 because of the different configurations of the gear and bungees. The 15 had no bungees. The 15/17 stick controls are just like Cub and mount to the floor. All they had to do was duplicate the left side on the right side. A simple bolt in change. The elevator cables come together in the tail and form a Y with a single cable from the Y for up and a single cable for down to to the elevator.
