    Hi,

...."$880 to do the 4 struts!"....

Did you drive in your McLaren to get that quote?

    Hi again,

That's an amazing price. I seem to remember my portion was closer to one fifty when we shared the guys trip. Took him all of twenty minutes to finish up testing just mine. That makes me curious, is oiling the struts every two years mandatory for the AD requirements when ultra sounded? I've been removing, punching and oiling for the last ten or so years though.

Mine started life as sealed struts, but someone drilled them for strut cuffs and door catches! I have an AMOC that will allow me to weld up the holes and make them sealed again, but I made the mistake of saying I would do the ultrasonic test prior to welding them. Did the request before getting the quote, wrong thing to do! I have an email into the Atlanta ACO to see if I can modify the AMOC to do the punch test instead.

To answer Jim’s question, yes they are supposed to have the corrosion treatment after each inspection. Either punch or ultrasonic.
