Default Grimes wingtip light lens removal

Pulled Grimes E model wing tip light assembly out to replace nav lights with LED. Got assembly out without breaking anything or losing any hardwear, so that's a win for me. Once taken out, I couldn't see how to remove the lens. It's been on there for XX years. I saw the rubber seal underneath, tried twisting, mild wiggling, and gentle prying. I understand the XX old plastic may break, but what's the secret?

    T'anks.

Can you post a picture? I am not familiar with it by that model. Am not remembering any plastic parts in any of the nav lights I have messed with.

Its one screw to pull the cap and then push in and twist the bulb out. What hardware could you have lost other than one screw?

Hey, thanks for doing this. I would have taken another pic of the wing tip. Didn’t even know I had a mod.

nobody can t3ll what you have there, you need to draw or take a pic of what you have, from your pro pic it looks like you are missing the the nav bulb and cover and have a strobe

I am very familiar with that system. No plastic parts that I remember. The Piper bracket on the wing, the light frame, the bulb for the nav, the bulb for the strobe the colored lens cover nd the aluminum bezel behind the nav light which holds the lens in place and the screw. Spruce and Univair have parts break downs in their catalog. I don't see them online. Probably a Grimes light with a Whelen strobe add on. Your log books should tell you about the stobes.

Yes, they are whelen strobes added in 1980. That's the only log book entry regarding the lights. "Whelen Strobes installed" etc. There is a 337. No part numbers, but I've identified the Whelen model at A650 PG/PR. Looking for an exploded parts diagram that shows the front nav light lens, and how it comes apart. It could be it's just old and needs some encouragement.

    Never mind, found it.
