    Default Com radio

    Hello,
Looking for a newer com radio. Prefer something with a built in intercom (Icom A220, etc), but not required. Newer King, Narco, etc.

    Thanks
    Scott

Although this radio doesn't have a TSO, could you use the CAR3 regulations to install one of these, that seems like a pretty good price.....

[CAR3 excerpt] 3.721 General. Radio equipment and installations in the airplane shall be free from hazards in themselves, in their method of operation, and in their effects on their components in the airplane.

I have a Trig TY91. Very good and comes with built-in intercom.
Small panel mount with main electronics box that can be mounted elsewhere.

Second the Trig. But, won't the TY96 will fit the legacy radio racks? Built in intercom, STC'd for our aircraft https://www.trig-avionics.com/support/the-ty96-faa-stc/ and I think Steve is a dealer?

I've recently discovered Trig. My family hails from Auchterarder. "If it's not made in Scotland, it's crap"! Think I would prefer the 96/97 shape. Thanks

I have the TY91 in my Super Cub and really like the radio, the build in intercom and being able to monitor 2 frequencies at once . The TY96 is also a great radio with those features and a "Say Again" feature which plays back the last transmission. It is a 10 watt unit and the TY97 is 16 watts. The TY91 is 6 watts and I had a customer delivering an airplane from 100 miles away with one who could hear us playing down in the river. Plenty of stock on TY96s but I think the TY97 is still back ordered.
