Re: PA-22 conversion complete rebuild project
That's super helpful - if not the Dakota Fuel Valve, which would you use if you were doing it again?

Re: PA-22 conversion complete rebuild project
Doesn’t Trimmers STC call out the Maule valve? If you are using his STC, you need to use that valve or get a field approval for a different valve.

@Kenlsa
You have the wrong decal placard for the PA22 application of the Dakota fuel valve.
It should read “Right - Both - Left - Off”
The one you have is for the super cubs install.

It only took 2 hours in total, and was very easy only using a file and Dremmel tool. I would recommend the Dakota as it is beautifully made

I had best follow that up, thanks.

Re: PA-22 conversion complete rebuild project
If you look at the parts manual it gives the drawing number for each depiction. If you go to the fuel system in the parts manual look at the parts callouts and you will see the drawing number. I have all the drawings downloaded to the hard drive of my computer and use the search bar of my computer.
Also, you can search anything on this site via Google. Google "fuel line routing site:shortwingpipers.org"

Re: PA-22 conversion complete rebuild project
When you get everything done, have someone open the gascolater and verify that off is off and fuel flows properly in the other positions. I had a friend that flew a rebuilt cub for several months before he found out single tank was actually off. He was about to put it down in a swamp when he turned the valve again and found fuel.

Re: PA-22 conversion complete rebuild project
Just got a reply from Dakota Cub. They told me they sent the wrong decal and will send a new one.
Big thanks to everyone who pointed out the problem. Well worth the joint fee!

I had made a suggestion to them to revise the ICA / Install instructions to reference the two different decals… but got no answer.
Only reference that I can find is on their website, the second photo on the fuel valve page shows the PA22 decal. ICA only references the SuperCub decal.
Glad you have a proper one coming.

I will call the owner today, I know him well and can probably get somewhere.
