I ripped them out and my A&P and I put in the Univair ones and added nut plates. Should have been done that way from the beginning, but that's what you get with a used plane, I guess. Anyway, now all good.

Juergen, I think my tank straps were steel; I didn't paint mine, just cleaned them up and put on all new felt strips (Steve has sets of felts) using Pliobond.
It didn’t look like my tank straps are painted either. I was dreading it already to have to take them out for painting. I’ll clean them up today. I have the felt already (ordered from Univair).

If you don't already have a plan, I found Scotch-Brite pads worked well for cleaning the staps.

The tank straps are steel. I blast, prime and top coat with polyurethane. I also sell the felt for the straps, tank lids and rods. https://www.freewebstore.org/piercea...61_115078.aspx

I have all the felt already. I need to remember this when I do the right wing. Thanks for all the help.

I'm making progress. I finished and installed the new inspection panels and my mechanic gave me the green light after the "pre closure" inspection to put fabric on the wing.

Got the bottom fabric on and the wing back on the rotisserie. Will make it much easier for the rest of the fabric work.

I like your large inspection panels. I made mine large but, not as big you did. Thumbs up!

Great job on the inspection panels. Much more upscale than the way I did mine.

I'm about to put the top fabric on, but thinking ahead (yes, it happens sometimes) I'm not sure what to use on the ribs I can't rib stich by looping the rib stich lace around the whole rib (I hope this makes sense). For example, the forth rib is the rib the tank cover screws onto. So I can't put the rib lacing over the top of the rib, but I want to rib stich the bottom of the rib. The attached picture shows the bottom of the wing with the forth rib. The rib is pretty sharp and I'm afraid will cut through the rib lacing over time. Should I use the sticky chaffing tape or some U channel rubber strips I have laying around in my hangar?
