Re: Expired registration and Re-registration
Call OK City first thing in the morning if you want a quick answer.

Re: Expired registration and Re-registration
I use Aerospace Reports to deal with FAA paperwork issues. They can walk across the street and talk to a real person and they know this stuff inside and out.

Re: Expired registration and Re-registration
I second the idea of using one of the title work companies-
also use COVID as an excuse/ reason for exception
I understand FAA is lengthening the registration period
for future registrations

If I end up having any issues, I might have to do that or Ill go to OKC myself and see if they will talk with me.

Hi Tyler,
You can look up most airplanes - certainly Shortwing Pipers - by serial number.
For example, my Tri-Pacer is 22-3020, I enter it and up pops the info.
This may be helpful information to share with the FAA reps to indicate some relevant history of your Colt.

Good luck,

I’ve got all of that info, SN, airworthiness etc. Tt’s not a basket case, in fact It was flying until 20’ till the previous owner could not fly anymore. If it wasn’t for the engine I could annual it and fly it.
I tried to call OKC today and didn’t have any luck. By the way they are 4 months behind on registrations.
guess I’ll find out in a few months when they get my paperwork.

Re: Expired registration and Re-registration
4 months? You might want to check again, I sent in my registration request in August, still don’t have my registration.

Re: Expired registration and Re-registration
I’m waiting on a registration from a purchase as well. Just noticed this update on the FAA site… good to operate on the “pink” slip for 12 months.
“We are processing documents received on approximately August 26, 2022.
The Registry will no longer issue letters of extension, effective January 23, 2023. The FAA revised 14 CFR 47.31(c)(1) removing the time limit within which the FAA must either issue a letter extending the temporary authority to continue to operate or deny the application. The Aircraft Registration Application (“Pink Copy”) is valid until the applicant receives the aircraft registration certificate, application is denied by the FAA, or 12 months have elapsed during which the registration is pending on the aircraft.”

Re: Expired registration and Re-registration
Just remember that the temporary is no good for any certification activity including ferry permits!
