My core O290 came with 7 AC SR83P spark plugs. Are they any good ? Are they legal to use ? The Lycoming spark plug SI doesnt list them. The Champion REM38P are a cross reference but they arent on the approved list either.

Many of us with Lycoming engines prefer the Tempest Spark Plugs.
You can search the website for Tempest to see several discussions.
Shop around, prices can vary.

If they cross reference to another plug that is called out for the engine I would replace them with a correct spark plug. They call out spark plugs for reach and heat range.
Yes, I will likley go with a tempest UREM40. I was just wondering if platimum fine wire spark plugs were some kind of super duper plugs or something. They are very expensive. Wasnt sure if they had any real value.
I run Tempest fine wire plugs in my 0320 160 hp cub. Over a thousand hours and doing great!! Very seldom do I have any lead fouling issues, easy to clean and expect to last at least 2,000 hours. Not cheap but having the best never is.

I get 500 or so hours out of massive electrode plugs, 2000 hrs on fine wires. Pay now or pay later plus the benefits of fine wires.
What would the benefits of fine wire plugs be (in an A65) over massive electrodes ?

Same as other motors, less fouling, longer life buy one set and be done with it.
