I made some out of stainless brake lines from the local auto parts store. I cut the fittings off and smashed the ends flat. The price is right on these also.

Shane, I used some 1/4" aluminum rod from the Home Depot for one I needed in the skylite area. I worked great. I just drilled little holes in the end and attached it with safety wire, but you could drill a slightly small hole to accept a PK.

I followed Robert's lead and made a whole new set of arches for my Clipper. I plotted them out full size using the table of dimensions on drawing 12193. Then I bought some 1/4" .028" wall stainless steel hydraulic tubing and bent it to the drawing using a sheave of the correct diameter for most of the bends and using a small tubing bender for the rest. I clamped a chunk of v-belt in the sheave groove to hold the end of the tubing while I bent it.

Thank you for the kind words Shane. What you say about practice is certainly true in this case. The first bow took hours to produce, the last one was done in minutes.

Pretty clever Harold, using the v-belt and v-belt pulley. "I'm proud to call you my friend." I think that was a Hepburn line out of the movie The African Queen.

    Default Headliner Bows

Does anyone know where I could find new or reasonable good used headliner bows for a 1951 PA-20, with skylight, so only the rear 3 or 4 needed. I also was wondering what material they are made from and is it possible to fabricate replacement. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Bob

    Hi,

The last I read someone had good luck bending 1/4 inch aluminum tubing to make a set.

You can read a few threads about them here.
