Thanks but I had nothing to do with it. The airplane was redone in 1999, the fuselage has not been significantly touched since then.

Tom, I only flew the old wingtips about eight hours before I disassembled the airplane. I know it would fly slow before (although I never really got to fully explore that realm) but it really hangs up there now! It handles very well although I can see where crosswinds can become an issue with having more wing area outboard of the ailerons. She'll land slower than I want to, I'm still learning the back side of the power curve. I can easily put the tailwheel down first but if it is turbulent the controls are getting pretty slack at that point.

I didn't plan on the wing tip change, the replacement wings came with them. Here is 25 pages of my tale of woe: http://www.shortwingpipers.org/forum...is-a-project-(

That said, I'm happy with them.

Comparing stock wings...with VG's to wings with droop tips and no VG's....aileron roll rate is like comparing the speed of rabbit to a turtle.

    Default Vortex Generators

At OSH now and considering buying the VG kit for my Tri-Pacer. Has anyone here
done this mod and what type of performance improvements did you realize?

    Thanks!

I agree with Yellow Baron, Notable improvement for the money spent. They Work. Had them on since 1999 and wouldn't have an airplane without them.

I've tried to read through this again and saw a lot of numbers thrown out there like stall at different flight configurations (all seem good). Has any one done a power off or simulated engine failure? How does it change your best rate of glide or sink rate?

It won't change much. The VGs keep the air attached to the wing a a higher angle of attack, reducing stall speed. Above stall speed they're not very noticeable
