Default Ouch, A Little Rib Repair

Inspecting a Clipper where the trailing edge didn't look or feel quite right. Popped an inspection cover and low a behold look what I found.

Some pretty bad repairs that obviously didn't hold and weren't done per Piper Service Memo No. 10. Well I cut some fabric and as usual it was worse than it first appeared. I decided to cut it out and use one of my old ribs with a damaged front section to repair.

Cut the repair section out and spread the folded over "T" section out, slid it over the good part of the installed rib and riveted per Fig. 2 of SM10. Good as new and legal.

Default Rib vertical and diagonal trusses

I have a few ribs that have damage (mud daubers) on the vertical and diagonal rib trusses. Does anyone have a part number or source for the raw material to fabricate new ones?

This is from the AC43.13 and the L4 structural repair manual along with my notes from a Paul Babcock Rib Repair Seminar at Sun & Fun a few years ago.

I merged these two threads so everything is in one place for future reference.

Damn this place is awesome, is there no problems you cannot resolve?
Hmmm... has anyone of you figgered out how to legally print money? It seems the only thing we have not found a solution for is expenses!

Meh. Shortwing parts are downright cheap from univair compared to buying Cherokee parts from aviall...

stripped my wings and found some bent rips like this. This is the worst. Can I bend it back is it better to cut it and repair on the regular way?

I made a rib jig and install the rib in it and tap the cap strip straight with a rounded paint stick and a plastic hammer. They are pretty soft but that sharp of a bend might require the doubler as well.
