The expirence I've had with stopped props while flying (Five different types of Aircraft) is they glide further. As for landing I don't think there is one definitive way, do what suits you and your Aircraft. People who fly for a living use different ways according to conditions. Most of those who fly tailwheels for a job do a tail low wheeler.
