We have just replaced the copper primer lines with Lycoming stainless lines and the new style tee’s. We also installed the new style primer nozzles. We will have to use copper line from the gascolater to the primer. Does anyone know if the original gascolater primer outlet is a 45 or a 37 degree flair?

The original Weatherhead fittings are 45 degrees.

The cost was around $1,300. The stainless lines are a bit over $100 each, the three tee’s were stupid expensive. Around $200 each. The nozzles were not too bad. It took about 10 hours to bend the lines and secure them as the lines come straight without bends. The hardest part was to find pictures on how Lycoming ran the lines. If you decide to do this, start with the rear tee at the center of the oil pan and work the lines around to the front. I left the exhaust system off to gain easier access. I will now be using copper lines from the rear tee and gascolater to the primer.

We kept having our copper lies crack at the cylinder and kept cutting them off and re-flaring. Finally replaced the line (think it hardened with age) with new from AS or National Areospace Parts Association-aka NAPA. We have coils near the cylinder to give vibration resistance. No problems since. I'll look for pictures.
