    Default PA22 0-320 Oil cooler

I am looking for a front of the engine mounted OIL COOLER for my PA 22/20 0-320.
or a place that rebuilds them or a good used one or a new one.

Niagara Air Parts makes a nice new aluminum cooler that fits in the same location.....half the weight of the old copper one....

    Dave,

It will hold up very well. What did not hold up well are the brackets with the old heavy one installed. Have not had a broken bracket yet with the new one installed on our Super Cub...

    Brian.

PS....I have an old heavy one myself...

    Brian,

I purchased a light weight oil cooler from Aero Classics in Calif. it has a PMA for the PA22, Niagara has an STC for the PA22, a PMA for PA18/19 only.
Having mine leaking one rebuilt + transport 2 ways was within $100 of the new, light weight one.

I told my wife I was going to save 4 lbs. on a lighter oil cooler and she just looked me up and down and said, "Why don't you loose four pounds?"
Couldn't argue with that logic, except I've been trying to loose that 4 lbs. for a lot longer than it will take me to replace my old heavy copper cooler.
    Thanks again for the info.

Dave - wives are the same the world over. They all have very sensible, logical reasons why we should not waste money on shortwing "toys".

But we are blokes and cast from a totally different mold. The words "sensible and logical" have never been part of our vocabulary.

(Hell - I hope Joy doesn't read this or I will really be in deep doodoo. Unny jokin' sweetie )

I am looking for a new front mounted oil cooler for my 1958 Tripacer PA22-150
Has anyone found differences between the AEROCLASSICS 800328 and NIAGARA cam556-643 cooler ?
Will the installation and paperwork be identical and straight forward ? Thanks for your help in making the right choice.

From memory they are direct replacement by part number. The Aero Classic has billet aluminum end plates where the Niagra uses cast aluminum end plates. I have been installing the Aero Classics because they are easy to get from Aircraft Spruce or Univair although Univair is currently out of stock.
