Delco-Remy 1109657 Starter Issues
My starter finally quit working. I pulled it off and apart and it appears in relatively good condition but in need of a set of brushes. The brushes are a R 38 model. I'm trying to find if these are correct. Does anyone have the correct brush replacement PN? I'm sure about any old Delco Brush would work but may not be "Right".
Thanks,
Tim

Tim, I believe I have the parts book and will check when I get a chance.

I have the Prestolite manual but not the Delco-Remy. Prestolite part numbers are 17-126 and 17-135.

Thanks Steve,
NAPA was able X-ref for me. Should get the parts tomorrow.

Re: Delco-Remy 1109657 Starter Issues
I was digging in my records that I have left but could not find the info. (Sold the plane.) I eventually put a new starter on. It made a big difference. I think the old beast was dragging too hard on the bushings.

Re: Delco-Remy 1109657 Starter Issues
El Reno Air Parts use to have large quantities of Delco Remy parts. Call them at 405 262-5191 or 405 659-9641.

Re: Delco-Remy 1109657 Starter Issues
Talked with El Reno Oklahoma today, not too much help. Arrowhead electrical was the most helpful with part numbers, 1881838 obsolete, 1885058 obsolete, and 1906976 superseded. The 1906976 number is what rang the bell, car quest calls it 20-1643 and NAPA had it in stock. Will be up and running normally soon. Still awaiting FAA-PMA on my arms and shoulders when I hand prop this thing.
