Re: Auto Fuel STC future
The engines that require the 100 ll are typically only turbo engines. They run hotter and need that extra octane to ensure that they don't detonate. The io540 in my Cherokee 6 is less than 10to1 compression as are all the certified engines I know of. 100ll is overkill for them but 93 unleaded probably wouldn't be enough. Aviation needs 2 fuels! Stabilized unleaded without ethanol or 100ll. Lead levels used will drop and turbo motors will still run. 2 tanks can't be that expensive or difficult to maintain for fbos.

I regularly run my 0-320-150 on 87. should i not be using that octane level?

Re: Auto Fuel STC future
87 octane is fine for the 150hp o-320 and is allowed per the STC.

I have been running 87 octane in my O320-150 for 14 years with no problems.

Re: Auto Fuel STC future
I've been running 87 mogas and I have noticed my primer is getting harder to pull out and push in. I put new o-rings in a couple of years ago. Anyone know if there is a Viton replacement or has anyone experienced their o-rings deteriorating?

I see that with 100LL as well.

Those are standard size "o" rings and can be purchased in Viton. I put Viton "o" rings in and several years later I had the same results. Bad stuff in our fuel these days.

Re: Auto Fuel STC future
Check and clean the primer nozzles at the cylinders. They can get clogged up/restricted and make your primer difficult to push in. Thus the o ring in the primer is not the problem at all.
