Here is how Steve solved the cracking problem on my field approved installation. He broke a pierce of 0.030 steel and riveted into the corner.

I'm just pulling my engine for overhaul, so all the baffles are off.
When I restored the Pacer 1000 hours ago, I did the oil cooler move to the rear left baffle, but I was a bit concerned that the weight of the full oil cooler could lead to cracking of the baffle, so I built the strut shown out of .032" 2024T3 with 4130 hole reinforcements riveted on. The hole for the oil cooler has a thin 2024T3 doubler. I had a similar system on our Acro Sport II which had been successful, and this has been, too. Absolutely no cracking of the baffles that I can find.
