Re: NAS Bolts on Landing Gear
You will want longer bolts than the drawings call for to fit ski tabs on.

Re: NAS Bolts on Landing Gear
Removed castle nuts...reinstalled with new bolts...not long enough for ski or safety cable tabs. Do have four extra longer bolts...for when I get there..

Re: NAS Bolts on Landing Gear
Are these bolts that should be changed out every once in a while? Just wondering as we had the plane in the air to change the bungees it would be easy enough.
I do change the tailspring bolts regularly.

Probably unless you grease it on most all the time. I have seen a little wear but not normally anything scarry.

Re: NAS Bolts on Landing Gear
AN3 through 20 has been canceled and superseded by NASM 3 through 20. Same parts just that the standard is no longer controlled by the US government, now they are controlled by AIA

Re: NAS Bolts on Landing Gear
If memory serves me AN bolts are slightly undersized and NAS bolts are closer to listed size. Installing the AN bolts is enough fun for me, but installing a tighter fitting bolt would be more fun than I think I can take. If you have slop in the hole an NAS bolt might help correct the fit, but I see no reason to use an NAS bolt.

Re: NAS Bolts on Landing Gear
It all depends on the part number. NASM 3 through 20 are the exact dimensions and material call out of AN 3 through 20. There is a different part number that is a close tolerance bolt, but there is both an AN part number and an MS or NAS or NASM equivalent. Don't have those numbers off the top of my head.
