I will take a pic of how my lap strap harnesses attach to the tubing below the seat.
This method was implemented by the previous French owners (Touring Club of France) many years ago.
I used to have my shoulder harnesses attached to the upper cross tube but our local airworthiness authority didn't like that idea.
They carried out a calculation to show the tube would fail at less than the required UK/European certification requirements for a harness attachment point.
I now have welded brackets above the rear parcels shelf that were added during my fuselage recover.

    Tony,

Looking forward to your information. Like the idea of using the rear spar crossover tube, but was not aware of your findings.

    Thanks again,

Here are pics of my harness installation.
One pics shows the lap strap centre attachment. The other show my new shoulder harness attachment point (stbd side - port side is identical).

    Tony,

Fine looking installation! Going to show the A&P/IA everything gathered here and on the J3 forum, will see what we come up with. Will email you with additional questions.

    Thanks!

Why not ask the questions here? Might help someone else down the road.

What is the material of the black strap? Are there grommets under the bolts? Any documentation? As your UK authorities required new upper mounts, I assume that they are OK with seat belt center strapping arrangement.
    Thanks,

    Hi CTJER,

Have you looked over another thread about belts?

Jerry, I have sent you a PM. Strap made of steel, probably 4130, but not sure. Would have been installed many years ago..
