How early do you need to arrive to get a spot in the vintage area? Would Sat. or Sun. work?

I think it depends on the year. Some years I have heard that the whole airport is full by Sunday.

The last couple years have had less airplane attendance so you probably can get into vintage. Vintage camping might be iffy. If you are arriving on Wednesday or later parking should not be a problem. It seems in the last few years everyone arrives early and it starts to clear out midweek and by Saturday lots of spots available. More drive in traffic later in the week.

I have been flying up and camping just West of the Hangar Cafe since 2010. I arrive on Thursday evening and there have only been a handfull of planes in the vintage area. By Friday evening or Saturday morning it is getting full in that area, but still plenty of parking in other vintage areas. Depends a lot on the weather too. KSG is right, mid week you start to see quite a few clear out and then some stay for the final weekend.

    Thanks for the advice.

I PM'd Brian, so maybe I can get on Jim's list. I should know Jim, as I been in his area many times. But, to be sure to get into Vintage, it sounds like arriving prior to Friday before the flyin or after Thursday during the flyin usually works?...

I wonder what goes on for all these early arrivals? I might run out of beer before the show begins.

We've camped in North 40 twice and South once, Vintage looks much more fun.

Hi Stephen, taking my airplane to the paint shop this weekend, plan is to fly by June 1st.

We'll be leaving for OSH on the Friday before, weather permitting of course, you could fly with us.

I like Vintage, nice area, trees and close to showers and food unless you get there late and are way down at the south 40 towards Fond du Lac.

    Sam,

Good to hear about your plane. I am not counting on help getting into Vintage, so I might leave earlier. I am figuring three days flying.

Also, trying to figure what to do at osh for a few prior to the start.

Sam, if you mention your dad owns a brewery and you are bringing some samples I'll wager there will be a primo spot waiting for you!
