Default rear door lock pin and knob

My Tri-Pacer is missing whatever locks the door. I see a hole that it looks like a rod or pin goes in that maybe you pull up and push down. I understand these are not the easiest thing to get, but can anyone tell me how they attach to the lock mechanism? Is it just a threaded rod? If so anyone know the size/thread pitch? Would like to get one fabricated if I can't find one.

    HI Scott,

I have a rear door with complete lock set, if you're interested in all or part, let me know. PM or E-Mail at john.f.kobbeman@boeing.com
Also have a front door complete as well.

Thanks, I am interested but am not quite sure what I need. My door is fine and the latch and outside button work fine, I just can't lock the back door. Do you guys happen to have a picture of the door innards so I could tell you what I need?

Scott, order the blueprint CD from SWPC.org, it shows all the details of your airplane, including the door lock mechanism that varies over the years.

John & Andy, is that a Utah thing, flying with the doors off?

    Hi Glen,

Well, the door & parts are from a salvaged TP, however there have been ocasions that the door was in the way!! A photo mission during the SWPC Convention in Utah last year.

    Scott,

I'm out of town for a week, but if you haven't gotten any help, I'll be glad to take a photo or three of the locking rod & assembly.

The piece you need is just a smooth shaft with threads on one end for a little knob, and the other end has a cutout in it a little ways from the end that is square on the bottom of the cut and tapered on the top. There is a clip pin that engages in this cutout. It keeps the knob from pulling all the way out. However, if you pull hard, it will come out anyway, and that is probably what happened to yours. You just need to snap one in.

here's a couple of picks to show how the door lock works
I used a piece of 1/8" weld rod to demo the locking pin

Thanks very much, that picture helps a lot. Guess I'll have to pull the inside of the door off and see what is under there.
