Panel rebuild is complete. Started with adding ADS-B (GDL-82) and before I knew it, I was removing old heavy instruments and cutting out the majority of the wiring. Removed vacuum system and associated instruments. All wiring replaced except alternator circuitry and the lighting wires from original switches to the lights themselves. Designed and laser cut a new panel. Added a G5. Replaced the old Narco comm with a new Garmin that has a built in intercom. All the Garmin units (comm, txpdr, adsb, efi, gps) talk to each other for data transfer. Replaced the Piper ammeter and fuel gauges with EI and Aerospace Logic gauges. Probably should refinish my yokes now. Put the plane on scales cause I pulled out so much stuff, now 1110 lbs empty on 8.50s.

On paper it was 1125.6 lbs which I believe was a bit optimistic by ~8-10 lbs. That’s surprisingly close for some of these old planes, it was last on scales in the 90s.

I’ve not changed any radios or instruments. But during this year’s annual inspection season, I did wire in my LED post and map lights. Plus I also made cover panels for the openings in my dash.

Here's what I've been working on for the last few weeks. It's a mix of really old and ... not so old. Replaced a cranky old KX 170B with a used GNC 420 (basically a 430 w/o the NAV radio). Moved the old Terra CDI to the lower left pilot's panel, reinstalled an old TKM G/S receiver behind the panel and put a windup Wakmann clock in the CDI's old location for the legal IFR panel. All I need is the pitot static cert.

    Regards,
    Chris

Hey Chris, you have the same airspeed indicator as Kevbot, above, is it original? I am guessing they must have changed after mine .. 1959. That is if yours is a newer model? I like it.
Those automatic flippin pics are a common thing around here.
