So, with all this said will these tires work on stock PA22/20 rims?

So the Desser 22" smooth should carry the 8.50-6 designation - if you have any Cleveland wheel including the stock wheel - with Svenn's STC they should be approved - if you already have some other approval for 8.50's that should also work.

Those big tires would look really cool on my 22/20, but I have a feeling the cord would be showing through the rubber pretty quickly flying and taxing on hard surface airports where I spend 99% of my flying. Also not so good for wet runways with no tread.

Clayton - Was a STC ever done to allow the Desser 850x6 Aero Classic Smooth Tundra on a PA-22-20-150 - Univar conversion with Cleveland single puck disc brakes?

Won't the Svenn STC cover the Desser 8.50s? http://www.svennsaviation.com/

Yes, I use the Svenn STC with the Desser 8.50 tires. The tires are very light and soft, ideal for dirt and gravel, but wear quickly on pavement. I only mount them when flying out West.

Thanks - I'll call Svenn and talk to Desser. I live in AZ and do mostly pavement. Have had great wear and run 650 hours on the Desser 850x6 Smooth Tundras on a Scout. My new PA-22-20 is lighter and I suspect they should do even better on the Piper. Alaska Bushwheels can't handle the pavement .
