Somebody here might be able to post a pic of a known "correct" bolt, showing the marking, for comparison.
And of course the short castellated nuts are easy to identify vs conventional castellated nuts.

The correct bolts are spelled out by P/N in the SB. Also, the SB calls out the markings on the head. Differentiation between between bolts is readily done by looking at the head markings. A good guide is the Standard Aircraft Handbook.

Thanks Mark, I was posting on my phone and from memory, when I looked at the SB 1172A I found the information I was trying to recall:

    1. Locate the bolted joints (total 4 per aircraft) at the lower end of the Front & Rear Lift Strut Assemblies, left and
right hand sides of the aircraft, and compare to Figure 1 and Figure 2 below.
Note the orientation and stack-up of nut, bolt, cotter pin (and if applicable, washers) at this bolted joint. Bolts
will have head markings as follows:
    * For Figure 1, the bolt head marking reads NAS 464P.
    * For Figure 2, the bolt head marking reads 13241.
This inspection must be accomplished within 100 hours of operation.

    Its all there at http://www.shortwingpipers.org/photo...er_sb1172a.pdf

Just to clarify, are the lower lift struts bolts the same for the small fork and the 5/8 sealed strut fork?

Ditto. I used the "Piper Special Bolts" on my AK Airframes sealed struts (w/5/8" forks). (Wow, things just go up! Mine were only $12 each back in 2013...)
