Steve's Webinar on back country flying
I watched a Webinar presented by Steve about the danger of back country flying yesterday. Some of us watch U-Tubers showing all the glory of flying in the back country. Steve pointed out the flip side U-Tubers most likely will not show. I started back country flying last year by (first time) flying the Canyons in Utah (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...ASY5AjOOJAheTU) on my way to the High Sierra fly in and I am planning to fly to Idaho this year. I really enjoyed the presentation and learned quite a bit.
Steve, I hope you don't mind me sharing the link to the recording of your presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwcUfuTgXEE

I hope she is OK. Steve may gets an ear full next time she sees him, LOL.

Re: Steve's Webinar on back country flying
Some hard lessons learned but hopefully people can learn from mine and some of my friends mistakes and not have to go through it themselves. SJ had been on my for a while to do one of these presentations but it was hard to choose a subject. After watching lots of cool videos of people landing in all kinds of places I thought it would be could to show the flip side of that so others can see what can happen.

Really Enjoyed that webinar. Funny, after I ground Looped my plane the first year of ownership I was thinking about walking away from this . people kept telling me to suck it up and get back on the Horse. Steve is my new inspiration.

Re: Steve's Webinar on back country flying
After 24 years of owning the Clipper and about 3000 landings in some awful conditions I finally ground looped it in front of Steve’s hangar. Best place in the country to damage a rag and tube Piper. Most of the parts necessary to fix one can be found in one of his three hangars if you know where to look.

Sorry to hear about that Gilbert, you seem to have one of the nicest planes here on the forum.....hope the damage wasn't too bad.

It’s fixed and since it was restored 16 years ago it was due for refurbishment which it is now getting.
