Not sure what nomenclature to use, but I need something to protect the opening I need to cut in my headliner to allow the Hooker harnesses to get to the tube structure. Airtex advises to fabricate an aluminum plate and contact cement them to the inside of the new headliner I'm about to install. Also anyone have suggestions how to treat the fabric end where it wraps around the door above the rear trim panel on the Colt?

If you cannot simply glue it down with the approved cement or contact cement, you might be able to conceal the end and even reinforce the seam with a good strong tape such as this, available in colors to blend in.
I have not tried this but it looks like it might be good for those areas around the doors and the seat rails that tend to get worn and frayed. https://www.chromalabel.com/products...SABEgJB0vD_BwE
My wife used tailored button hole stitch around the opening.
On my sons Clipper I made a slotted cover out of 0.016” aluminum and glued with contact cement. Not as elegant as what my wife did but effective.
I'm not adapt at using a sewing machine, so I glued some headliner fabric on aluminum and screwed it to another aluminum backer accessed by reaching through the zipper. This is on a PA12.
