    Default Tail wheel arm, PA16

    Hi,
I am looking for a part number for the arm which bolts on the rudder and tail wheel springs are connected to. The holes in the arm are getting worn and I wanted to see if I could find a replacement. I am not even sure what this arm is called, but the setup looks similar to the one on this photo, except on mine the springs are hooked directly to the arm..

U1140A from Univair. Or just weld and drill the one you have.

They put the plane on upside down here, if you use those eye bolts instead of hooking springs directly to rudder arm, turn the plane over so the eye is below the rudder arm.

The Univair part is cast and I would not recommend welding and redrilling. I have found them cracked in half at the holes. Same part for all the rag and tube Pipers. Dakota Cub makes a billet version. http://dakotacub.com/index.php?optio...display_id=129

    Univair cast. https://www.univair.com/piper/piper-...00-rudder-arm/

I would also check that the holes in the rudder itself are not worn as well. I am talking about the holes between the rudder and the arm. The holes where the springs attach have a bushing and have seen those drilled out and a larger bushing installed and it broke off.

Can't beat this with a stick, recently ordered one. Looks as good as original, but much less expensive w/o the letters "T, T, O, C, S" on it.

Billet is machined from a solid block instead of being cast.
