Carb adjustment

It’s probably set pretty close. With the engine idling at 650 rpm I turn the idle adjustment screw CW until the rpm starts to drop then I turn the adjustment screw CCW, the engine will speed up. Keep turning CCW until it slows down. Now turn the idling screw halfway between the point where the engine slowed down at the CW and CCW points. When it’s set right the engine will gain about 50 RPM briefly when pull the mixture to idle cut-off.
It’s intimidating to lay under the engine with it idling in my opinion.

The thought of doing this with the engine running is intimidating. I plan to do it iteratively with the engine not running. Mixture first then speed.

Got the carb this AM. Spent most of the morning shortening the mixture cable for correct fit up. This was a bear of a job. I figured an inch of outer sheathing needed to be removed to make up for the broken inner cable. It snapped at the swivel when I pulled the carb. I use a side cutter to spread the outer sheathing spiral and then a tri-angular file the cut through the sheath. Not pleasant to do place.
