Dome Light Lens

I am looking for a source for the dome light cover for my 1953 pa22/20, this is the round off while light cover that is part of the speaker grille and held in place by some spring clips. It may be an old car part but i cant find a replacement, thanks for the help

Hi Chris,
Are you looking for the entire assembly or just the dome light lense? I just removed mine for the skylight install, might be able to help you out.

If you want a new one, go to planeplastics.com. They are an exact replacement and around $10 I think.

You're right! I was on Plane Plastics the other looking for some Navajo parts and I was thinking that was where we got our dome light lens, but I guess I was remembering wrong. Thanks for correcting me. planeparts.com is the site.

Be very careful installing it. I bought a new one and cracked in while trying to install it. Somebody later suggested a little petroleum jelly or something like that, on the spring tabs that hold it on. At the very least, I wouldn't install it while it's cold.

Probably have two or three of those things laying around here somewhere.... Remove them when doing skylight installations....

Here is a link to a previous discussion about this. It has some info about a source for new lenses as well as installation. ~$20 for the lens. The price has doubled in a couple of years. Luck - Dwain

Just be careful installing it. We bought one and chipped a a piece of it out while installing it. It presses over some spring clips and it was a cold day. Crack

I bought one ten years ago, and one month ago.
Would not have needed replacement had I not smacked my head into it.
Good quality, as mentioned before use great care when installing.
This is from the PlaneParts website, they say for PA28 etc but is same for PA20 & 22.

What a surprize, the right plane but a screw on lens. At those prices there's more than just a lens getting screwed on. Any chance any of you have a couple of snap on lenses you can part with?

Gawd... I suppose it beats having to deal with those dirty common folk. Saves postage and handling selling one per month rather than 30? I rather see the price now than to inquire. I usually look elsewhere when they are too embarrassed to display the price at least this way everything else seems affordable, ha.
