New PA-22 Owner!

Pontiac, IL
Hello everybody! First off, I’ll introduce myself. My name is Cody from Pontiac, IL. I’m a student pilot that has been training in a PA-28 warrior, and have just bought my first airplane. It’s a PA-22-135 (N3347A) and I’m currently waiting to get it ferried home to my hangar. While I’m only 10 hours in, I found it kind of silly to keep training in a PA-28 as I have no intentions of owning one. I’ve had my eyes on cubs, and pacers but found a Tri-pacer that fits all of my current mission parameters. I can’t wait to get in the left seat with my CFI and continue my PPL lessons. I’m excited to be a part of the short wing community, I’ll take any and all advice to make my “flying milk stool” the best it can be! Just wanted to say hi! IMG_0892.webp

Congratulations, enjoy your new ride. I hope you find out that the more you fly it, the more you will like it. Looks like it has an O-320 engine in it.

Thank you all! This community is an amazing resource, once I earn my PPL I look forward to Oshkosh and wherever else my Tri Pacer takes me and my family.

I wish it did. It still has the O-290 that’s about half time. An O-320 will be in its future, I’m sure by the time my 290 times out its only use will be as a coffee table. Until then I’ve got plenty of life left in it!

Hmmm, the spinner you have is usually used on the O-320s. The O-290 spinner looks more flat.

Welcome to the Forum!
Nice looking Tripe. And appears you have the 8 gallon aux tank. That can be valuable on cross country flights!

I just recently finished my PPL in my 1955 Tri-Pacer. I have to admit, the first time I looked at one I thought it was the ugliest thing I’d ever seen. But the more I learned about them and the value they were, the more attractive it became. I bit the bullet just to get me through flight school but now that I’m done I don’t want to sell it. I love my old bird. She’s a lot like me. Kinda stubby, not very attractive but will certainly get the job done. I’m proud of my Tri-Pacer and I hope you develop that same relationship with yours. You have a very nice plane. Good luck.

Thank you. The versatility of the pacers is hard to beat for the money! I plan on keeping this one for a long time, it fits almost all of my mission parameters.

Congrats on your purchase. I hope you get everything out of it that you want! These are wonderful planes that do a great job of meeting our missions!
