Hay Clippedwing,

I read your post on "Classic Right Tank Fuel Starvation" and your last line is a great one "Now let’s put together a west coast, Pacer fly in somewhere!". I would like to volunteer Kern Valley Airport "L05" as the unofficial location for the unofficial Fly-in. (remember the COVID-19 thing). It's centrally located, grass to camp on, a river 100-yards off, a lake a little farther, a great tourist town, and a push-over for an airport manager, I have have him in my pocket.

Let me know what y'all think.

Sure good idea, yet it has been my past experience over the years, that most short wing folks for whatever reason do not like to fly very far, so attendance may be limited. Plus with average age of this short wing group, many may not want to mingle with others.
I am not being negative, just trying to avoid a lot of work on your part and no one shows.

I will gladly come from the Seattle area.

Thank you for presenting this to the group.

I'm in! L05 is a great place for a gathering. There's a pretty good gaggle of shortwings at TSP so it's just a short hop to Kernville

I will absolutely be there... next year! That is as long as I have my license by then and my plane flys.

Keep us posted, sounds like fun and I haven't been to California in a very long time.

We got impatient on Saturday and went to UGB for our own west coast fly-in. Kind of sparse attendance, but we were able to keep up social distancing that way.

Now THAT's what I call West Coast! Interesting name, Ugashik.... reminds me of some of the place names around here -- Pemigewassett, Ompompanoosuc, Ottaquechee....

Looks like social distancing is not a problem there, Troy, but I think the official distance is 6 feet, not 200 yards.... :)

Well, you know...6 feet is the minimum distance...and we are overachievers...

I would love to fly to Kern Valley but that is not going to happen this summer, so hopefully there is a great time had by some of the southern (compared to us) west coasters.

Hay Clippedwing,

LOL

I know from personal experience he’ll even bring you coffee if you ask nicely.

Any news? I heard something about a date in October from Dustin.

I was eye balling this and looking at the sectional. How are you guys in the area navigating all the restricted airspace to the East of you? I see a path that wiggles its way through, or do you just go south of it all?

Both.
Sometimes if you ask you can get permission to traverse through. Top edge of the sectional shows controlling agency and their frequency.

Turns out the Retirement party I thought was on the 17th is actually on the 18th so that doesn’t work for me. So 17th or either of the 24th/25th.

My Tri-Pacer is nearing completion... but won’t be ready to go next weekend...

I wish I could have joined you. I’m planning on heading down that way sometime. I have some good friends down there. Thank you for sharing.
