Oil Temp/Pressure

My cruise oil temp is usually around 220. Which I believe is why my oil pressure once warmed up is around 60 (bottom of the green arc). When the oil is cooler the oil pressure is perfectly in the middle of the green band. I believe that my oil temp is running higher and causing the oil to thin, reducing pressure to the bottom of the green band. Does that make sense? Is my oil cooler going bad? Or am I missing something else? My baffling looks good and my CHT's are all great. 360-370 in cruise. My oil cooler is mounted to the back of the baffling on the pilots side.

Is there a vernatherm in your installation? Check your baffling. The rear oil cooler is an STC, not original Piper so get your installation drawings and make sure the installation is correct. What oil are you using? Go with a heavier weight oil, changing from 40 wt to 50 wt will lower temps about 10 degrees. Changing from 15W50 to 25W60 will also lower it about 10 degrees.

I will have to research the vernatherm. The oil cooler was located there when i bought the airplane. Im using 100 plus oil.
