Spark Plug Wire recommendation for O-320 with Bendix Mags

My '56 PA22-150 has some "ticking" sounds coming through my headsets (both 1 year old Bose and new Lightspeed). Especially noticeable when taxiing at low rpm. My plug wires are looking kind of worn, with some blackened color on the blue sheathing at all strain relief and supports for the lower plug wires on the outside of the baffles. There is a stainless braided sheathing under the blue sheathing. I'm wondering if the insulation may be breaking down. My A&P and IA friends say my wires may need replacement. How many hours do you get out of plug wires? I think mine are over 20 years old. What brand is your favorite, and why? Thanks.

Does the ticking change when you switch mags. The wires can rub on things and get worn through but I would think you would get the tick all the time. Have you tried turn the alternator/generator off? I prefer the Slick/Champion harnesses. They are robust and the parts are available to replace a lead, nut or most anything else and I have the tools to swedge the fittings.

I have Bendix mags. Wires were inspected and not worn anywhere. It ticks with alternator off and on. I'll try switching mags today. Thanks Steve.

I used New Horizons Maggie Ignition: https://www.newhorizonsmaggieaircraftignitionsystems.com/about-us
They can do custom wire lengths if needed, PMA mag plate has "screw in" wire leads allows replacement of a single wire if ever damaged, install hard bends on any or all leads at the plug end (I did that, pretty cool), anodized hardware. All in all I thought it was a good value. People you can talk to without going through a voicemail maze.

Just spent my lunch break reading the entire website and watching all their videos. These harnesses look like the cat's meow solving several issues I see quite often with ignition harnesses. I am glad you posted this again because I do not like spending any money with Slick/Champion and believe the Maggie Ignition system is far superior to anything else I have seen available.

Thanks Jan, and Steve.
