Venturi-paint or bare?

Somewhere down the road, a past owner of my PA-15/17 has painted the venturi, inside and out. I have heard from some that it should be bare metal. Anyone have any
thoughts on this, does it effect the vacuum & gauges? Thanks - Paul

Mine was unpainted, until I removed it for an electric TC. I've had painted venturies that ran a gyro instrument fine. How does yours work?

Paint won't appreciably affect anything unless it was sprayed in such magnitude that the inlet fitting that the vacuum line is connected to was clogged up.

Thanks guys, this saves me the messy job of stripping off the paint... but now I'm trying to figure out why the turn indicator part of my turn & bank doesn't work!!
Its sure disconcerting to see the needle stay straight up when I'm in a 30 deg. bank. - Paul

Do you have a vacuum gauge in the system?

I have two venturis on mine, one is painted one not. They seem to work fine. Also my turn needle is electric, only the attitude indicator and heading indicator are vacuum driven. Something to check.
